Few places in Malaysia love their football like Kelantan. Here is who plays, where, and how to be in the stands when the stadium turns red.

The Red Warriors

At its peak, the original Kelantan FC drew some of the biggest, loudest crowds in the country, filling the 30,000-seat Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium with a roaring sea of red. The old club fell into financial trouble and was dissolved in 2024, but the passion never left. A new community club, Kelantan Red Warrior, was built from a "Save Kelantan Football" movement and, in 2026, won its way back into the top flight. On a match night in Kota Bharu, you are seeing one of the most football-mad corners of Malaysia.

Where the states rank

Final 2025/26 Malaysia Super League table. Not every club is a state side (DPMM is from Brunei; Immigration and PDRM are federal-service teams). The Kelantan top-flight side that season was Kelantan The Real Warriors. For 2026/27, Kelantan Red Warrior earned promotion from the second tier into this top flight, the row to watch next season.
