Alongside the famous central market, Kelantan runs Pasar Tani: weekly farmers’ markets that pop up by neighbourhood, bringing produce straight from growers, plus the usual happy clutter of kuih, drinks, snacks and cheap cooked food. Each area has its day, so on any given morning there is one running somewhere.
They are smaller and more local than the big markets, and all the better for it: a relaxed way to browse seasonal fruit and vegetables, sample local snacks, and see an everyday slice of Kelantan life.
Practical notes: Days and sites rotate by neighbourhood; ask your host or a local which Pasar Tani is on and when. Go in the morning, bring cash and small notes, and come hungry.
